Commissioning of the plant is planned for the fourth quarter of 2024.
RJ Lasertechnik GmbH, a specialist in laser precision machining and laser system construction, has commissioned the construction of a large 250 kWp ground-mounted photovoltaic system. The system, which will be installed on an area of around 2,500 square meters, is due to be commissioned this year.
Focus on in-house power generation and sustainability
"Our aim is to generate a large proportion of the electricity we need to operate our laser cutting and laser welding systems ourselves," explains Managing Director Ralf Risters. "The investment has economic aspects for us. However, we also want to continue on our path towards greater sustainability and see the project as a contribution to CO2 avoidance." With the planned photovoltaic system, RJ Lasertechnik can generate around 250,000 kWh of electricity per year and thus cover a significant proportion of its own requirements.
Pioneer of industrial laser processing
Launched more than 30 years ago as the first spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology FhG ILT in Aachen, RJ Lasertechnik GmbH was one of the pioneers of industrial laser processing. Today, the company is active in three business areas: manufacturing, clean room process technology and laser system construction. RJ Lasertechnik manufactures for medium-sized companies as well as for international corporations in Germany and abroad and is active in the semiconductor technology, mechanical and plant engineering, medical, measurement and control technology, laser optics and aerospace sectors.
